Massimo Cossentino

Massimo Cossentino is a senior research scientist at ICAR, the Institute for High Performance Computing and Networking of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Palermo, where he has worked since 2001 and where he heads the ECOS laboratory. He holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Palermo (2002) and obtained his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches from Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse in 2008; between 2006 and 2008 he was an invited associate professor at the Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard. His research sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence and software engineering, covering multi-agent systems, self-organising and self-adaptive smart systems, goal-oriented modelling, and workflows and design processes, with current applications in the adaptive management of emergency procedures.

He is the author of more than 200 scientific publications, has led several research projects, and has chaired and organised numerous international scientific events. His work is widely cited, with over 4,200 citations and an h-index of 35, and he is listed among the top 2% of researchers by standardized citation indicators.
