Mario Ciampi

Mario Ciampi is Technology Director at ICAR-CNR, the Institute for High Performance Computing and Networking of the Italian National Research Council, based in Naples, where he is a member of the PRISMA group. His research and technology-development work, carried out through the coordination of and participation in numerous European, national and regional industrial research projects, focuses on information processing systems, with significant applications in digital health. His main interests include software architectures for complex systems aimed at interoperability between heterogeneous information systems in compliance with sector standards and data-protection regulations, the organisation of structured and unstructured data through big data management and analytics, cybersecurity techniques for protecting critical network infrastructures, and the management of IT platforms enabling distributed research infrastructures.

He sits on the Board of Directors of HL7 Italy, the UNI Control Room on Digitalisation and the UNINFO Commission on Medical Informatics, and co-founded the Italian Scientific Society of Biomedical Informatics. He is co-author of more than 100 scientific papers and technical reports.
