Bupe Getrude Mutono Mwanza

Bupe Getrude Mutono Mwanza is Associate Professor of Sustainable Supply Chains and Circular Economy at the University of Zambia, where she also serves as Associate Director of the Graduate School of Business in Lusaka, Zambia. She holds a PhD in Engineering Management from the School of Engineering Management at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, with a doctoral thesis presenting an African reverse logistics model for plastic solid wastes.

Her research and teaching span sustainable engineering, waste management, operations management, reverse logistics, manufacturing systems, maintenance management and production optimisation, together with quality assurance in higher education, and she has supervised student research across purchasing and supply chains, sustainability and solid waste management. Her widely cited work includes reviews of the drivers of sustainable plastic solid waste recycling, strategies for the recovery and recycling of plastic solid waste in manufacturing companies, and circular economy practices in solid waste value chains from a developing-economy perspective.
