Antonino Valenza is Full Professor of Materials Science and Technology at the University of Palermo (Italy), where he has long contributed to teaching, research and academic governance in the field of engineering materials. His scientific activity is mainly devoted to polymer-based materials, with particular focus on polymer blends, thermoplastic and thermosetting composites, natural-fibre and bio-based composites, recycling of polymeric waste and the development of sustainable, circular-economy oriented material solutions.
Over the years he has coordinated and participated in numerous national and international research projects, collaborating with industrial partners on the design, processing and characterisation of advanced and eco-friendly materials. He is author of a wide number of peer-reviewed publications and has supervised several PhD theses in the area of materials engineering. Within the University of Palermo he has also held relevant institutional and managerial responsibilities, including roles related to engineering education, technology transfer and the promotion of research-industry cooperation, supporting the link between academic research and the manufacturing sector.
