Ignazio Infantino

Dr. Ignazio Infantino is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for High Performance Computing and Networking (ICAR) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), based in Palermo. His work focuses on the study, design and implementation of intelligent software systems, particularly in the fields of cognitive robotics, artificial intelligence, computer vision, human-robot interaction and knowledge representation.

Dr. Infantino holds a Laurea degree and a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Palermo. Since 2001, he has been a researcher at ICAR-CNR, where he has conducted research on artificial cognitive architectures, robot perception and interaction, and image processing. His early career includes a period as a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge (UK).

At ICAR-CNR, he has coordinated research groups and activities within national and European projects, and he currently leads research efforts relating to cognitive robotics and social sensing. Dr. Infantino has contributed to work on automatic sign language recognition, imitation learning in robots, humanoid robot interaction, and real-time scene understanding.

His extensive publication record includes more than 120 scientific articles in international journals and conference proceedings, spanning topics such as cognitive architectures for robotics, affective human-robot interaction and advanced vision systems.

Dr. Infantino is involved in both academic research and industrial collaborations, contributing to technological transfer and applied projects at national and European levels. His work integrates robot perception, machine learning, symbolic knowledge representation and multimodal interaction to advance autonomous and intelligent systems.
